A monothematic SICCR meeting took place in the congress room of the clinic of Santa Maria, Bari on the 24th may 2013. The sole issue was \u201c Painful Anal disease\u201d which allowed leading experts of the region in colon proctology to debate a widespread illness which nevertheless is complex owing to the differential diagnosis and therapeutic management. The presence of professor Mario Pescatori was particularly appreciated, who politely and clearly reported examples of how some diseases apparently merely proctological can disclose more complex organic and psychological problems, in addition a highly appreciated presentation on the evolving therapeutic management of squamous anal cancer was given by professor Claudio Fucini. The participants showed great interest and a very lively discussion took place at the end of each session. Finally the successful outcome of the meeting was herald of future scientific events.<\/p>\n
