Tumour death rate on the decrease

According to a report by ISTAT, the death rate owing to tumours, in Italy is decreasing 2% a year.
Every year, according to statistics, 2000 death cases less are recorded. The report presented to the health minister, made up of a collection of data of 30 years (1970-1999), shows that of all malignant tumours (in total 20 types of cancer), mortality is decreasing and especially in the North and among young people.
The health minister Francesco Storace, points out the three factors that have contributed to obtaining this result: new therapies, earlier diagnosis, and a major awareness of the type of life style one must adopt.
Cancer is no longer a terminal disease – underlines Storace – and patients have the right to live in hope.
