Q.A.L.Y. Acronimo, dall’inglese Quality Adjusted Life Years

Indica gli anni di vita aggiustati secondo la qualità. Ogni anno di malattia corrisponde alla percentuale di un anno in buona salute secondo tabelle (QUALY league tables) specifiche per le condizioni di malattia o disabilità studiate, risultanti da studi svolti ad hoc. Un obiettivo degli studi sulla qualità di vita (qdv) riguarda l’impiego di misure della stessa comparabili, utili per la valutazione economica e la conseguente pianificazione razionale dell’uso delle risorse sanitarie. Lo strumento dei QALY è una delle più note metodologie di studio di qdv applicate, a partire dagli anni 50, per la valutazione economica degli interventi sanitari.
